Fishing has been slower this
past week. The current has been slow and that seems
to slow the bite in summer. Whitebass are scattered
but fair along the flats off the old river channels.
The numbers have been good but the fish have been
running smaller that usual. Mepps fished along the
bottom has been the best lures. Bluegill are good
early and late under the deeper docks on live bait.
Catfish are hitting fair along the drops using
leeches and shrimp. Largemouth are scattered and
crappie are slow. The best action has been in the
tail waters. Stripers have been hitting Sassy Shad
well. Good catches of blue cats have also been taken
bouncing cut bait along the bottom. Fishing is good
in mid summer but remember to drink plenty of
liquids and use sun screen.
